UIU Seattle Chapter

Established 2020
Representing the Seattle Area

Mission

Umu Igbo Unite Seattle Chapter was founded in 2020. As of today we are comprised of over 30 active members. Our mission is to promote Igbo culture in the Pacific Northwest amongst Igbo youth and people interested in Igbo culture through programs such as Igbo class, gatherings, cultural events, community service, projects and the National convention.

Our Committees

Event Planning Committee: The event planning committee supports the overall planning of our major events. This includes everything from budget to venue, guest list to feedback. They are also responsible for making sure that their volunteers know what they need to do in order to pull off a successful event.

  • I've been involved with UIU since 2017 as a member of the LA Chapter. I recently moved to Washington for work and heard there was a Chapter in Seattle.  I went to an event in October and met some of the members who were very nice and welcoming. I went to another event a month later and the members actually remembered me and details about me that I shared.  I have now joined the Seattle Chapter and look forward to meeting more Nigerians here and building a community. A lot of members here are transplants from somewhere else but take pride in Seattle and are great at welcoming new transplants like myself.  Thank you UIU Seattle for welcoming me!
