Our Mission

Our mission for the Wisconsin Chapter of Umu Igbo Unite is to cultivate a strong community rooted in the preservation and celebration of our rich Igbo cultural heritage. We emphasize the values of community and family while providing a platform for young professionals to network and develop. In the face of globalization, we are dedicated to educating, celebrating, and uniting our members to ensure the continued prosperity of the Igbo culture. Through community impact, networking, and engagement, we aim to inspire future generations to uphold these cherished traditions, fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment where all can thrive personally and professionally.

Culture Committee

The Culture Committee is dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and sharing the richness of Igbo heritage while creating meaningful spaces for connection among members. Through cultural programming and social experiences, this committee nurtures pride in identity, strengthens community bonds, and ensures our traditions remain vibrant across generations in the diaspora. Focus Areas - Cultural celebrations and signature events - Igbo language, arts, music, and traditions - Social gatherings that foster belonging and joy - Intergenerational cultural education and storytelling

Personal and Professional Committee

The Public Relations Committee serves as the voice and first point of visibility for UIU Wisconsin.This committee shapes how our chapter is seen, heard, and experienced by members, partners, and the broader community through intentional storytelling, branding, and communication. Focus Areas Social media, digital presence, and branding Event promotion, photography, and storytelling Website, newsletters, and public communication Strengthening visibility and community awareness of UIU Wisconsin

Community Service Committee

Rooted in the Igbo value of collective responsibility, the Community Service Committee leads initiatives that uplift communities locally and abroad. This work includes service throughout Wisconsin as well as support for UIU Cares and humanitarian impact in Southeast Nigeria and Igboland, reflecting our commitment to giving back across the diaspora. Focus Areas Local volunteer service and outreach Partnerships with nonprofits and community organizations UIU Cares initiatives and global impact projects Youth, family, and community support programs
