As the first chartered international chapter of UmuIgboUnite, we are driven by the commitment to advance and sustain the Igbo heritage and culture in the young demographics through strategic and continuous streams of Igbo-centric initiatives in Toronto and neighboring cities. Our mission is guided by three main pillars:
Cultural advocacy – celebrate the Igbo identity by providing a safe space for the cultivation and sustenance of the Igbo ethos, particularly the ‘Igbo language’ which is projected by UNESCO to be endangered.
Professional networking – foster avenues that umu Igbo professionals in Toronto and future generations, can leverage to successfully develop, expand, and realize their unique career ambitions.
Social engagement – facilitate chains of vibrant culturally-themed activities/events that in addition to promoting the first and second pillars, kindles a robust sense of community and comradeship.
