The UIU Chapter in Atlanta prides itself in its ability to bring young Igbo Nigerians together. There are currently over 900 members on the Facebook page with about 30 to 50 people showing up to events. The organization continues to generate a buzz among the Igbos in Atlanta with more people showing interest on a daily basis. We strive to have a gathering/activity at least once a month.
Relationship forum: A panel of four members with various relationship statuses; single, engaged and married; served as an expert group to discuss relationship goals in the Igbo culture.
Cooking contest: Members were asked to cook various dishes and attendees voted for the best dish. The cook of the winning dish took home a crock pot
General Body Meetings: These are held periodically to keep members informed about upcoming activities
Annual Picnic: The 5th annual picnic featured a cookout, games and music and had well over 75 people in attendance.
Igbo Class: This class is an institution in and of itself. It meets weekly and is open to all levels of Igbo speakers.
